Ninfa Consuelo Alonzo

Connie (Ninfa) was born March 6 1934 to Daniel and Consuelo (Anaya) Vasquez. Orphaned at 2 years old when her mother passed away she lived at multiple locations during her childhood. In her early years, Connie resided at the San Diego Children's Home, with the Rios family and the Nazareth house at the San Diego Mission. In her adolescent years, she attended Our Lady of Peace Academy and graduated from Cathedral High School. A natural athlete, she enjoyed playing Volleyball, Basketball and Tennis at her schools.

In 1953 after graduation from high school, she joined the Marines to travel and have adventures. She served for 5 years in the Marines earning the rank of E4 (Sergeant), the last two years were as a recruiter. During her service, she was stationed in San Diego, Hawaii, Portland and Seattle.

During her station at San Diego, she was introduced to Fidencio Alonzo by her Comadre Mary Gomez.

On August 22 1959, Connie married Fidencio Naranjo Alonzo at the San Diego Mission. Thus began the start of their 66 years of marriage together. Connie and Fidencio (Al) were blessed with 2 boys, John Fidencio in 1962 and David Anthony in 1970. As a military family they were constantly moving from base to base.

Connie was devoted to God and her family, and poured her life into supporting and raising her family through all life's challenges. Always full of life and with an infectious laugh that was a ray of sunshine to hear. She loved her Husband , boys and Grandchildren deeply.

Connie was a devoted Catholic and was a member of the Catholic Daughters at the Holy Spirit Parish and helped at the bazaars and constantly prayed the rosary.

Connie loved doing crafts like sewing, making decorative Christmas trees and making Teddy bears. A gifted seamstress, she enjoyed sewing clothing for the family and even made the bridesmaids dresses for her son John's wedding party.

She loved gathering with the family, especially with her lifelong Comadre Mary Gomez and her family. Connie loved to dance with Fidencio and every chance they had to dance they were on the floor dancing together. In her later years she was able to travel throughout the US in their RV and see this beautiful country she loved with Al and her longtime friends. Connie loved doing all types of activities: Bowling, Camping, Tennis, Golfing, Scrabble, going to Thrift shops with Al and her sister Hope.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Consuelo Vasquez. Brothers Daniel, Robert, Hector, Mario, Moses, Armando and Solomon

She is survived by her husband Fidencio, her sons David Alonzo, John (Carla) Alonzo, her sister Hope Buelna and her 3 grandchildren Matthew, Christina and Kathryn Alonzo

Visitation will be held at Goodbody Mortuary, 5027 El Cajon Blvd, San Diego, CA 92115, US, on August 3, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Rosary will be held during visitation at 5 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 2725 55th St, San Diego, CA 92105, US, on August 4, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

A Graveside Service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum, 4470 Hilltop Dr, San Diego, CA 92102, US, on August 4, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
