Norman Arnold Hansler
November 28, 1925 – March 15, 2023

IN THE CARE OF
El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley & Memorial Park
Norm, a World War II Veteran, a former landscaper, banker, builder, and all-around craftsman, was born November 28, 1925 and received his wings on March 15, 2023 at 97 years young. He is survived by his adult children, Norm Hansler, Dan and Holly Hansler, Terry and Boise Hansler Pont, and Suzy Hansler. He is also survived by his wife of 42 years, Joy Hansler, as well as 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
In 1944, Norm graduated from George Washing High School in Los Angeles California. After graduating Norm immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served until 1945 reaching the rank of Aviation Cadet. He subsequently became member of the U.S. Air Corps where he rose to the Flight Officer rank until his honorable discharge in 1946.
After his stint in the military, Norm had a successful career at Security Pacific National Bank (later Bank of America). At Security Pacific, Norm began in the accounting department and retired 33 years later in 1980 as a Vice President over commercial lending in the greater Los Angeles area.
During his retirement, Norm and Joy bought and sold several homes where Norm loved to work on various “projects” that captured his interest. During this time, he would create picturesque front and backyard landscapes oftentimes using all varieties of flowers, plants, and shrubs. He also enjoyed building outdoor kitchens, patio floors, sunrooms, patio covers, and outdoor fireplaces. He especially loved to tinker in his garage where he enjoyed installing cabinets, shelving, and wood doors, always patiently working his magic and fulfilling his vision.
Norm especially LOVED his pets. At various periods during his retirement, he was dad to a total of four dogs (Taylor, Jake, Cody and Koko) and four cats (Ebony, Kyle, Mikey, and Blackie). His all-time favorite ritual was taking two of his doggies for long morning walks and ending up at a local coffee shop where Norm relished a glazed donut and a cup of coffee while his doggie boys waited patiently for him to finish. Norm will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and by all who knew him.
