

Pacifico T. Tanjuaquio was born on July 8, 1927 in Manila, Philippines, to father Lorenzo Tanjuaquio and mother Jovita Tanquilut. He attended elementary school at the Ateneo de Manila, the first Jesuit grade school in the Philippines, and went to high school at the Far Eastern University in Manila. Pacifico became a Certified Public Accountant in 1950, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from University of the East in Manila in 1951. Pacifico started his banking career at the Philippine National Bank as a clerk and rose to become the Assistant Chief Accountant of PNB, where he worked for 20 years. He had served as a director of National Association of Bank Auditors and Comptrollers (NABAC), dedicated to the pursuit of banking excellence.
In January 1962, he married Purificacion Zita Barin, a physician. They lived in Cubao, Quezon City in a house designed by Pacifico which included a pediatric clinic where Purificacion continued her medical practice. They raised three daughters, Pura, Pearl, and Paz.
In 1968, Pacifico established the Beneficial Savings and Loan Association in Manila, Philippines where he was Chairman of the Board and Founder. In 1972, martial law was declared in the Philippines by former Pres. Marcos. With the tumultuous situation, he made the decision to move the family and immigrated to the United States of America. He worked the first year in the U.S. at the Franchise Tax Board in Sacramento, California in 1973. The family then moved to Orland Park, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, where they lived for 10 years. In 1983, the family moved to San Diego, California where Pacifico worked at San Diego Bank & Trust until his retirement at the age of 70.
Pacifico T. Tanjuaquio passed away peacefully in his home in San Diego, California on April 15, 2020 at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his sister, Luz T. Diaz, and his brother, Bienvenido Tanjuaquio. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dr. Purificacion Barin-Tanjuaquio; three daughters, Pura Caballero (Jorge) of Carlsbad, CA, Pearl Amos (Jerry) of San Diego, CA, and Paz Tanjuaquio (Todd Richmond) of Woodside, NY; and four grandchildren, Jonathan Dalisay, Kristina Caballero, Jack Amos, and Jenna Amos.
