We will miss our family get togethers over food! 

Pat was a force of nature. There will never be another one like her. She was a gifted gardener -- not just roses -- but fruits and vegetables too, and she was generous in sharing what she grew. Pat was an artist too. We have a couple of her paintings in our home, as well as a couple of her mother's. We have been friends for almost 40 years, and will miss her more than we can say. You were with me in the delivery room when Dylan was born. Who can say their great-grandmother was there on their first day of life??!! You didn't miss a baseball game when he pitched in high school and you & Alex even made it out to a game during his college days in Iowa. Nana you were his #1 fan ..words cannot express how much you were appreciated and loved.
I cherished the times we spent in your backyard looking at every rose bush and smelling their wonderful fragrances.. you taught me everything I know about roses.. Someday when I'm a "Nana" I hope that I can carry on your legacy with gardening..maybe on a small scale ;) 
Nana... we will miss you dearly.

I first met Pat at her wedding to Uncle Alex…and since that time, through family reunions, numerous visits and family time/vacations; I was always impressed at how she was such a genuinely kind and caring soul.  One thing that Pat did with grace and aplomb was to make you feel welcome no matter what the circumstances.  She was kind beyond comprehension and honestly, after all of these years, I cannot recall one instance where I ever saw her she was upset or mad!  That in itself is quite a feat!  In addition to her love and mastery of all things roses, painting and gardening in general, (we never refused her offer to harvest as much fruit from the trees as possible), what has always rung true was her dedication and devotion to her family.  Every visit that we made to San Diego, we were always welcomed with amazing hospitality and warmth.  I (and my family) have fond memories of playing cards, Skip Bo; Mexican train, watching movies and of course, many fine meals.  Personally, I am grateful to Pat not only for her adoration and selflessness towards her family, but for the companionship and the happiness she brought to Uncle Alex for so very many years…for that, words cannot express our gratitude, and also, the depth of the loss we feel.
Rest in peace, dear Pat, although we have all lost a shining star; we know that you are still shining bright…

Dylan and Cece at Nanas 96' . I'll forever cherish these years at your house .

For over 23 years, Pat was a wonderful friend and neighbor.  She was certainly the "go to" person if you had a failing plant.  Not only did she share her vast knowledge, she shared many cuttings from her beautiful  plumeria and orchids.  
We shared countless hours discussing world issues and the joys of our families as Alex  exercised in the pool. Pat was the best pool sweeper, she made certain there wasn't one leaf in the pool before Alex enered the pool.  
How  we will miss seeing Pat each day with hoe in hand digging out that one weed that invaded her beautiful garden.
Pat will be greatly missed.

Nana , you are worth a million words but ill keep it nice and short.  You were the glue that kept this family together . You always made sure i knew you loved me very much and always wanted the best . You have shaped me into the woman i am today and the great advice you've given me over the years will forever be taken.  I dont know where our family would be without you but im glad im right here where i am because of you. Your heart was weak in health but your heart was rich with unconditional love which was spreaded throughout the world of those you have touched. I am forever honored to call you my nana.  I love you so much and will miss playing mexican train with you and alex. 

We have cherished our time with Nana 💙.  Her love & kindness is immeasurable for her grandchildren. Nana will be in our hearts forever.

We have been friends with Pat and Alex since the late 70's.  We both had our weddings within 6 month's of each other.  My husband Phil and I shared many lunches or dinners in their company and they were our source of travel tips and movie recommendations.  And, of course, we usually ended up playing Mexican Train .....always good for lots of laughter.  We also shared an annual outing  to the races at Del Mar with Pat and Jack Rule for many years.  Maybe it was only marginally successful for the 6 of us but it was a pleasant afternoon.

We supported each other's involvement in charities and fund raisers and appreciated being of benefit.  We applauded Pat's wonderful work with her roses and she received awards for her efforts.  I remember one year we attended the Del Mar Fair just to see her roses on display.  She also dabbled in painting and was more accomplished than she would usually admit.

Pat had so much love for her family and loved sharing their exploits and endeavors.  For many years she would travel any distance to attend her grandson's baseball games.....no matter where they were playing, she would be there.

She will be missed but we have many wonderful memories that will keep her with us.   May her memory be eternal.

Thank you, Pat, for your wonderful kind nature and for making Alex and the rest of us so happy.  Your patience, good nature and kindness will never be forgotten.  I got to know Pat mostly at family reunions and always enjoyed talking with her.  Remember those big breakfasts at a San Diego restaurant and those great times at La Jolla restaurant looking out on the ocean?  Nights in Corolla, North Caroline where we all had to produce a dinner each night?   Great fun.  I just wish I didn't live so far away and could have spent more time with you and Alex.  Thank you for being there!

Pat (and Alex) have been dear friends of mine and my late husband's for over 35 years. Pat had a beautiful smile and open heart.  The four of us shared a wonderful River Cruise in Oregon together with many happy memories.  Pat loved to play Mexican Train which we did several times a year preceded by going out to lunch.  Each time we played, she and my husband would banter about the pros and cons of setting up the train, and good times and laughs were shared.  Pat will certainly be missed, and her roses will miss her too.

Pat was a cherished step-mom to me, and beloved "Nana" to my children.  Whenever we told the kids, "Nana & Pop are on the way", they would wait on the sofa , then sprint to the door when the bell rang.  Big, long hugs ensued.  
I'll always remember the amazing cake that Pat made for me, when I was turning 6 or 7, that was shaped like Darth Vader's helmet.  She knew the fastest way to a man's (and boy's) heart was through his stomach... and in 1981, anything to do with Star Wars was the coolest (rad-est?).  I really appreciated how Pat was always thoughtful and thinking of others, and had the true gift of hospitality.
