Paul was born on September 12, 1940 in Hong Kong to Tang Pui Hang and Ho Sap Mui. In 1964 he sailed to America to receive a good education and start a new life. He arrived in Normal, Illinois to start his Master’s degree in mathematics. In Spring of 1966, Fanny Lo sailed to New York City to stay with relatives where she waited for Paul to meet her in the summer when they got married. Together they moved back to Illinois so Paul could finish his degree. A year after they moved to Bloomington, IL, they welcomed their daughter, Maria. After Paul received his Master’s degree in 1972, they moved to San Francisco where their son, Anthony was born.
Paul enjoyed teaching math and became a Math Professor at San Francisco Community College where he taught as a full time professor until 2006 when he retired and moved with Fanny to San Diego to be with his adult children and their families. In addition to teaching, he was an active member of his church in San Francisco and later San Diego where he served in various roles including teaching CCD. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He continued teaching math after he retired as an Adjunct Professor in the community colleges in San Diego and also tutored students from middle school to high school.
Paul was a hard-working, generous and energetic individual who loved to make people laugh and feel welcome. He loved traveling and eating good food. Most of all he loved his family and was dedicated to the upbringing, education, and well-being of his wife, children and grandchildren.
Paul is survived by his wife, Fanny, his children, Maria and Anthony, his four grandchildren, Micayla, Ethan, Noah, and Micah, and four of his siblings. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister.
