Petronila "Nelly" Camota Velasco

She attended the Dagupan School of Nursing at the University of Pangasinan in the Philippines, and graduated as a Registered Nurse. She immigrated to the United States in 1963 to Jersey City, New Jersey, in a program that brought Philippine Nurses to the United States. She retired from nursing after 52 years.

She was married to her husband, Ranchito "Ranchie" Velasco, for over 55 years. She loved shopping, dancing, and going to casinos with friends and family, but most of all she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Nelly is survived by her husband, Ranchie, of San Diego, California, her two children, Rachel "Rach" Velasco-Lind, CAPT, USN, Retired, and Randy Velasco, and their spouses Eric Lind, CMDR, USN, Retired, and Dr. Joanne Vargas-Velasco, and her five grandchildren, Daniel "Pogi Boy" Lind, Matthew "MattMatt" Lind, Layla Velasco, Randy "Junior" Velasco, Jr., and Isabel "Isa" Velasco. She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. Patricio Camota Senior and Mrs. Juliana Toledo, and her son Joseph Patrick Velasco.

The Visitation will be held at El Camino Memorial-Sorrento Valley, on April 24, 2022 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

Her Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Rancho de los Peñasquitos on April 26, 2022 at 10:00am, and her Burial will be held at El Camino Memorial-Sorrento Valley at 1200pm.

A Celebration of Life Luncheon immediately following the Burial from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Royal Banquet located on Miramar Road in San Diego.
