Philemon Chan was born on June 24, 1953 to Chan Lam Sing and Chan Lau Yau Chu. He passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and service.
Philemon was preceded in death by his father, Chan Lam Sing; his older sister, Chan Ying Ling; and his younger brother, Phillip Chan. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Amy Chan, his children Ben (Lindsay) and Catherine (Owen), his grandchildren, Charis, Everett, Boaz, and Shiloh, his mother Chan Lau Yau Chu, and his sisters Grace and Josephine.
Philemon was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, faithful servant of God, and lifelong learner. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. His legacy of faith, wisdom, and love will continue through the generations that follow him.
There will be a viewing on Friday, July 24, 2026 from 4:00 - 8:00pm at El Camino Memorial (5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121).
A memorial service to celebrate Philemon’s life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 3:00pm at Chinese Evangelical Church (2582 Judson St, San Diego, CA 92111).
