The youngest son of Vicente and Gorgonia, he was born in Manila, Philippines, on June 10, 1930. He served with the United States Navy, retiring after 20 years of service, as a senior chief.
He earned a degree as an electrical engineer. After retiring from the Navy, he worked for another 20 years at the Naval Supply Center in San Diego. He received his MBA from National University.
He and his wife owned and managed a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly and Adult Residential Facilities for the developmentally disabled for many years.
Known to all simply as “Resti,” he was always ready to help a relative or a friend in need whether it was fixing their cars or appliances.
He served at the MCAS Miramar Chapel for many years as a greeter. He also helped with the offering and was a Chapel council member. Resti and family have attended Miramar Chapel since 1971. He joined the Navy in 1953 with a batch of Filipino recruits at Sangley Point, Cavite. He was an active participant of this group of Navy veterans from Batch ’53 that still meet to this day. Resti served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
His patience, thoughtfulness, contagious smile and humor will be truly missed.
Resti is survived by his wife, Elvie, their three sons: Gary, Andrew and Karl; their wives Christina, Joyce, and Generosa; and grandchildren, Megan, Rachael, Clara, AJ, Abigail, Charlotte and Elijah.
