

Richard Edward Dellwo died in San Diego California on Friday October 14, 2022, after a prolonged and courageous battle with multiple cancers. He was 86 years old. Richard was born January 29, 1936, in Minneapolis Minnesota to Arnold and Dorothy Dellwo.
Richard Dellwo became an accomplished US Naval Aviator and Vietnam Veteran. He flew A-4C’s among many others. He had tours on the USS Ranger, USS Ticonderoga, and the USS Hancock. He retired from the US Navy as the Commanding Officer of VC-7 at Miramar in 1978 after 25 years of service.
After retirement from the Navy, he became a Real Estate Broker who owned his own ERA Franchise for 20 years. He was active at the MCAS Miramar Chapel as well as other military chapels in the area and Wounded Warrior programs along with his church Faith Bible Fellowship in Santee. He has been influential in many young men and women’s lives in both active service and civilian life.
Richard is survived by his wife Patricia Dellwo of 32 years, his two daughters Tammy Dellwo residing in San Diego, Cindy Matheson (Ken) of Mission Viejo. He has four grandchildren Alyssa Caplan (Tom), Ryan Bruno (Jen), Lauren Matheson (David) and Megan Yonts (Noah) along with two great grand-children Ellie and Maxwell Caplan. Richard is also survived by his sister Geraldine (Reuben) Larson of Minnesota and her three daughters Susan, Kathy and Jean ¬and their families.
Richard’s step children: Tom Faught, Lori Lyth , Kimberly Tatham and Brandi Ferguson. Step grandchildren Mandy, Stacy(deceased) Brittany, Jennifer, Alex, Ryan, Ashley and Elizabeth. Step Great Grandchildren: Tyler, Emily, Graceland, Roxy, Jaxx, Dominick, Madelynn, Landon, Ethan, Blake, Aiden, Brook and Rhea Lynn.
Visitation is Friday November 4, 2022, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at El Camino Memorial located at 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego CA 92121.
The funeral service will be on Saturday November 5, 2022, at 10:00am held at Faith Bible Fellowship 9971 Mission Gorge Road Santee CA 92071.
Interment will be on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, with Military Honors, at Miramar National Cemetery 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego CA 92122. Please arrive by 10:45am and the burial service will be at 11:15am.
