Richard Anthony Wheeler

Richard Anthony Wheeler passed away on Tuesday December 14, 2021 at age 73 and was a resident of Oceanside, California. He was the husband of David Youtz. They shared 51 years together. Richard was born on January 1, 1948, in Torrance, California to Sophia Wheeler and Richard E. Wheeler. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era from 1967-1970. Richard spent most of his career as a car salesman and also enjoyed investing in real estate. He served as a board member of Pedro Pet Pals, an organization that protects animals’ welfare and animal rescue. Richard enjoyed the outdoors, especially the ocean, but his true source of enjoyment has always been his dogs. Through the years he has had several dogs by his side at all times. His favorite dog of all was Gizmo, a Shih Tzu. He will be remembered by friends and family for being generous and supportive during difficult times. He was an avid restauranteur frequently visiting fine dining restaurants with friends. Richard is survived by his spouse, David A. Youtz; his mother Sophia Wheeler; his brother Michael Wheeler (Sherry); his sisters Linda Sabatucci (Sam) and Christine Wheeler; and his dog Chip Wheeler. Richard was preceded in death by his father Richard E. Wheeler. He will be missed greatly by friends and family.
