

Bob Berryman was born in Stewartsville, Missouri in 1920, the oldest of four brothers. Raised on a farm he along with his brother Charles and two friends came to San Diego in 1940. He married Laura Imogene (Jean) Borne of Alpine, California in 1940, together they raised two children Ruth and Stan. Bob was inducted in the U.S. Army in May 1944. After boot camp at Fort Shelby and further training at Camp Roberts, he was deployed to Ie Shima off the coast of Okinawa, Japan. He completed his tour of duty in 1945 in Korea and was discharged in at Fort MacArthur in January 1946.
After being discharged Bob became an electrician and later plant manager at California Electric Works, where he worked his way from journeyman to superintendent to plant manager. Bob's interests were varied and over the years he participated in the Granit Hill High School Band Parents Club, Toastmasters, Elks, but his two main but his two main loves were the El Cajon Gem and Mineral Society and the First Baptist Church of Bostonia.
Bob lived in El Cajon, California, for 67 years. In 1990, he lost Jean to Parkinson's disease. He later, in 1992, married Gladys Rose Berryman. They were together until her death in 2008. Bob is survived by one brother Bill, daughter Ruth Gillies, her husband Gerry and son Stan Berryman and his wife Judy, five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren
