Had the pleasure of working with  Bob at MBE. Always upbeat- I worked in Franchise sales- so we did not meld responsibilities.  I did a lot of traveling and he always asked how things are going? I got to talk to him before he passed away. I will always. remember Bobs exemplary life. 

Just learned of BOBBYDE's passing. He was a wonderful next door neighbor of ours at Toscana in Sparks for 14 years. We had many laughs, shared pizza & food from Costco! He will rest in peace always.

Dear Victor, Cara & Eric,

We fondly  remember our Sun Summit days with you, and your parents, Bob & Rae.  Susan felt so close to your Mom, it took her a long time to move on 30+ years ago.  We were in touch with your Dad for a few years after he move to Utah, but lost touch as he and we moved several times.
 
He always seemed to have an upbeat attitude, even in the face of adversity.  Hope his final years were good for him and you, and your families.

We just heard of his passing today from a mutual Sun Summit neighbor.

I remember many years ago going to a family gathering to watch Bobby play his drums, thinking that I was related to a famous cousin.  Bobby was always full of fun, smiling and had that infectous laugh.  Although distance separated us in later years I always felt close in heart.  I still have his voice on my answering machine, when he called to see how my family was doing during this Covid crises.  It was so much like him to show he cared.  His memory will always hold a special place in my heart.   My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of his family.

I remember Bob, the husband of my dear sweet beautiful cousin Rae, as a wonderful man -always with a great smile on his face. He was a loving husband, dad and son-in-law. He was also a very talented musician.  He treated me with kindness when I went to the Catskills for a few weeks one summer to help as a mother's helper to Rae.  My deepest condolences to his family and especially his children and grandkids.

Dearest Victor, Cara and Eric,  I am crying looking at these beautiful photos of your beloved parents, the three of you and family and friends.  I am so very sorry for your loss.  I remember first meeting your Father when him and Mom started going together.  What a couple they made!  Being just a few years younger than Mom, the Twins and I watched her dress to go on dates with Dad.  They were so happy, carefree and beautiful.  We loved your Dad.  Then just a few years later, when I got married at age 20, your Dad and his band played at my wedding.  They were the BEST!  As the years went on, when Dad was playing at a gig in Brooklyn, Mom would come and stay with Aunt Rae and Uncle Ben and then Dad would pick her up after the party ended and they would go home.  Your Dad was always the life of the party.  We would all dance together at a family gathering or affair and have so much fun.  I will cherish those memories forever.  I loved you Mom and Dad together.  Your Father was one of the most talented men I ever met!  May God bless you and your family.  Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and I like to imagine that your beloved parents are together again with all those who have gone before and they are singing and dancing in Heaven.      I will always remember Bobby as a loving, dear, sweet cousin.  
Many years ago, as a teenager, the Curci family gathered together to watch Bobby entertain.   He was quite a drummer.  We were so very proud of him.   I seem to recall it was at an academy, back East.  Bobby always had an infectious smile and was full of fun.  He was the kind of person who made everyone feel good.
     Rest in peace dear cousin.  You are in precious company.

Let me speak about a brother, an uncle, a cousin and a friend.  As a brother I could tell him all my troubles and knew he would not pass judgement on anything I said.  His support was unconditional.  As an uncle,  he gave hugs and support whenever needed. Bob knew he could call on his nephews for help whenever he needed them. My cousins told me in notes they remember him for his smiles and kind words.  He was know to them as one of the three musketeers along with cousin Joey and Donald all three born around the same time. Cousin Nancy said, “We all loved him very much. He reminds me of Santa Claus with his bright smile and jovial laughter. He certainly shined in his special ways.”
     My earliest memory of Bob was when I was 5 living on Henry Ave. in Conn. Cousin Joey was visiting and they  decided to hang one of my dolls and put a firecracker in her voice box. Needless to say he had a crying sister.   Next memory was  when I was about 10 and he lived on Second Hill Lane where Bob and his band practice in our cellar.  I would call in my friends and hide behind the bar to listen to their music. My dad business was “Augie’s Newstand “ where Bob when, he worked , brought his drum pad and practiced there as much as he could.  
    We moved to Fair Lawn NJ and Bob was in the marching band at West Point.  On Sundays the family would go watch him play as the cadets marched.  He would come home often with different instruments one of which was the xylophone and practiced as much as he could . 
     After we were married I will always remember the Thanksgivings we celebrated at his home. Ray would serve lox and bagels, potato knishes,   along with other tradition Jewish foods.  The turkey was cooked perfect. I always liked it best when the whole family got to celebrate together.
     I was happiest when Bob moved to San Marcos. I then got to hear him say I love you in person rather than over the phone .  God bless you and keep you in his care brother Bob. I love You 

Summer of 1961, the Laurels Hotel in the Catskill Mountains in upstate New York.  Bob was the drummer in the lounge band.  I was the pianist in the Latin band.  His future wife, Rae, and my future wife, Joan, two great friends, came to work at the same hotel as counselors for the summer. That summer for the four of us was the perfect storm for love, marriage and our lifelong friendship.

Bob and Rae, and Joan and I married the following year.  Bob and Rae were our treasured friends from that time forward.  Over the years we shared stories and laughter, music and memories as we created them, of our lives with our growing families.  All of our children became friends and their feelings of closeness towards each other never stop.

One of the summers that followed, we shared a week long vacation in a rental house together.
I don’t know how we were able to do that, we literally had no money between us.  We were all just getting started in our lives and careers.  I do know that we and our first born children at that time, Victor and Robbie, had a great and memorable time and lots of laughs.  Over the years we took trips together and were always in close touch even when we were separated by distance.  

To Victor, Cara and Eric:  You have always been and will continue to be part of our family.
It breaks our hearts to have to see you and your children lose your wonderful dad and grandfather.
Your dad’s big, warm, wonderful smile will stay with us forever, and his greeting us with his joyous, ebullient, aaaayyyy, will always ring in our ears.

Please take some comfort in knowing that he’s now reunited with your mom, his beloved Rae.

Our friendship with them both will live on in our hearts.

Dear Vic, Cara & Eric, 
I just wanted to send you my deepest sympathy and heartfelt wishes for peace and happiness as your dad rests. I only cared for him a few short times at the Meridian, however he truly touched my heart and was a gracious and sweet gentleman. Wish I could have heard him play the drums :) May you all find quiet and happy reflections on the man who seemed to have been a wonderful father. Best wishes to you all.

Speaking for all of the Robbins family, there are way too many wonderful memories to fit on this page. Just thinking about growing up on LI, we were all so fortunate to have Bob in our lives. His sense of humor, his wit, his drumming ... a hero to all of us. I was just thinking about the time we spent in Jamaica, Bob would always keep the party going with all of us in tears of laughter the entire trip. Some of my greatest memories are the times I spent on the bandstand with him, he made me want to become a drummer.
Bob will always be a major part of the Robbins family, and we all consider ourselves fortune to have been blessed with the time we got to spend with him.

I’ve known Bob since 1990 when I became part of the DeSio/Burlison family.  Bob was a classic example of a raconteur, a person who tells stories in a skillful and amusing way.  These stories usually dealt with the trials and tribulations of Lula Mae and him towing their SUV or car behind their 40 foot rollout RV.  Many times, I found myself in a competition of can you top this.  I always lost.

Bob liked to gamble a lot.  One time, he got me to join him at a table of 3 card poker.  “It has the best odds”, he said.  After about 5 minutes, I got out after losing $200.  His favorite game, however, was Texas Hold ‘Em.  I got into a game with him in Reno.  I lost in the first hand going all in with two pairs and losing to a well hidden three of a kind.  Bob went on to win when the remaining three split the pot.

I helped Bob move from Sparks to San Diego a few years ago.  I was amazed with his filing system for keeping all of his odds and ends and his insistence on maintaining his filing system. 

I will miss Bob’s smiling face and his constant optimism.  I will miss seeing him at Cara’s for Christmas, the Brown Hound parties, and Super Bowl Sunday’s at Tony’s.  May God grant him eternal peace.

Knowing Bob for 19 years as a son in law was so very special and a honor.Memories to me are him Pulling up to Cara’s and my home in his huge 40 foot long motor home with his smiling face behind the wheel .Sunday family meals , his perpetual love to my sons Jasper and Julian me and Cara.Our agreed political views. He Had appreciated special  stories of his drummers day and special gift in college and beyond. He was the best father in law anyone could imagine.
I will miss him dearly and always.

One in a Million! 

My uncle was compassionate, loving and fiercely loyal. 

I remember like yesterday the fun my bothers, cousins and I had in his basement playing ping-pong and banging the drums. His smile was contagious and his sense of humor second to none. 

I am privileged to have lived my life with him in it.  My wife and children will miss our Uncle Bob dearly.

Bob DeSio was without question the best boss I ever had.  He was caring, hysterically funny, always upbeat, and collaborative.  The type of boss who wanted you to succeed and he was going to help you do just that.  In most businesses, these type of bosses are so needed, but so few.  And they are often not valued by their peers.  Bob came from the perspective that if you treat your staff well, like equals, if you truly care about them and the work, and if they get along well with the other bosses and employees, you’ll end up with a better end product.  He created a well-oiled team and was the heart if MBE.  It’s a much harder way to manage than a more directive, top-down approach.  I’m so glad I got to see him for lunch with Arnie and Teri before Covid.  Age had not slowed down his zest for life, his incredible sense of humor, his sharp mind.  We had a great lunch and I was looking forward to the next one.  I will miss this wonderful man.  Rest in peace, Boss.  Love and prayers to his family.  

He was my kid brother, my business partner, and my best friend. He was always there for me when I needed him. Together we built  Mail Boxes Etc. (also  known as The UPS Store) into the world's largest network of  privet retail Postal outlets. Tens of thousands of entrepreneurs world wide owe him a debt of gratitude for the assistance he provided in operating their business's, Everyone that was fortunate enough to have known him will miss him dearly.

You were that Uncle! The one who made us all smile, made us laugh, the life of every party. The Uncle who loved to give my kids LOUD musical instruments for holidays and Birthday’s, but I wouldn’t of had it any other way. You were the Uncle who would get so mad at all us kids and our shenanigans but in the end loved us like no other. You were that Uncle with the dancing Santa hat, BIG hugs and kisses, a song and a dance and mostly, unimaginable love. I love you UB, till we see each other again ❤️

Thank you for all the years I shared with you at MBE.  You were loved and thought of so often for all you did at MBE.  It was a fun ride.  You can now Rest In Peace, and enjoy your new life.  We will all meet again some day.  

Vic’s Dad treated me like I was a Family. 
He raised Vic to be kind, generous and super thoughtful just like he was most likely raised. Blessings to the family. Bob was a really great man and will be remembered for his contagious laugh.
