Robert (Bob) Faught, was born in a small town in Kentucky on May 10, 1930. His dear parents, Clifford Faught and Anna Williamson Faught lived in Northwestern Ohio where Bob grew up. He had two wonderful siblings, Donald Faught and Patricia Holland.
Bob attended Tallmadge High School where he eagerly enjoyed playing football and baseball.
His father, Clifford, started a business in Tallmadge, Ohio, called Faught & Sons, where they sold and repaired appliances. Bob became an expert in fixing the newly invented television, and became very grounded in electronics and engineering, first hand.
Bob met the love of his life, Jean Lowery, I believe, through a friend after high school graduation. They were kept apart for awhile while Bob served in the Army during The Korean War and Jean waited for his return. Bob's expertise in radio repairing was used whenever needed during the war, becoming a Staff Sergeant. Jean and Bob were married during a blizzard on November 1951.
They had two children, Pamela in 1953 and Mark in 1956. They continued to live in Ohio until Bob and Jean decided to be adventurous and be the first in the family to move from Ohio to La Mesa, California in 1961.
Bob quickly was hired to be a part of the aeronautical industry in San Diego. He was a part of developing the highly accurate radar system used on the Apollo Lunar Module when working for Ryan Aeronautical.
He received a special award from Ryan in March, 1966. Bob continued to work in the aeronautical field until government funding was extinguished.
The City of San Diego was then fortunate to get Bob's technical expertise to the numerous city street light. He also helped to develop the LED street lighting while he maintained and programed the street lights of San Diego. He had those lights on a fine tuned program.
Bob loved photography, and even developed pictures in his army helmet, during the war in Korea. He made some beautiful scenic pictures and family photographs over the years. It brought him great joy to take pictures of his children and grandchildren. One of his hobbies was to collect over 100 antique cameras, which he adored. He traveled all over the world with his wife Jean, taking many photographs of their destinations. He also loved to ride bikes, ploy softball in the Lo Mesa Retired Senior Softball League, camping, working out at the gym in his 90's, making wooden toys for his grandkids, reading, sudoko, cords, listening to music etc.
Bob hod a big smile and a huge heart and was never afraid to say, "I love you." Boastfulness was not in his character. We never knew when he did something great! He was a true gentleman at all times, soft, kind, but also strong! I rarely heard anything negative about anyone, and he sow the good in most people. He lived a life of integrity and touched our lives in the very best ways, and helped family when needed. We will never forget his dry sense of humor. He had a way of saying funny things without a smile. His long life was such a blessing to his family.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Pamela Faught (husband Thomas Stohl and his children Shawn and Shannon), son, Mark Faught, grandchildren: Julie Faulk Harding (husband Andrew), Bryan Faulk, Courtney Faulk Burger (Husband Collin Burger), and Sarah Fought as well as his great¬grandchildren, Rowan Vivienne, Sodhi, Everly, Iris. His brother, Donald Faught (wife Lillian), and sister, Patricio Holland (husband Jack) both living in Ohio. He also has step-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bob Faught was loved by many and made us all better people. Thank you dad!
