Bob will be missed but I have great memories of my frequent visits over the past eight years. Bob had a zest for life and always made light of things going on giving back a dose of his witty sense of humor. Remembering his wonderful and gentle soul will forever remain in our hearts. Bobby was everything expressed in the obituary, plus a brother to me.  Growing up next-door to the Horners, their family members were like relatives to ours, certainly to myself and my sister, Liz Riley (best friend of Janie).  His mom, Jill, used to drive us when we were too young to walk the 3/4 of a mile journey down 31st Street of the Tree Section, over the natural sand dunes (now Sand Dune Park) and down to the beach.  She was a gem, who passed too young.  Bob's dad, Jack (as in Jack and Jill), was from North Dakota and had strong mid-western values that he passed onto his kids.  Over the years, Janie, Bob and Jim were guided by their longtime housekeeper, Ruth, and later by Jack's second wife, Marie.  Over those years, Bob, Jim and I taught ourselves to bodysurf, surf mat, and finally surf (board).  After Aviation High School, Bob, Jim and I drifted apart, finding our own paths.  Bob stayed local and became a legend in his own right.  Certainly one of the high points in his life, he became the most sought after waiter at the famous Orville and Wilbur's Restaurant.  Oh, to be a fly on the wall on those many nights.  Later, he used to come home with stories about his experiences working the video cameras at Dodger games.  He and I shared many Manhattan Beach breakfasts before downtown breakfasts became almost too popular and crowded.  He developed artistic hobbies in photography, welding, breeding dogs and who know what else.  Bobby always had a great sense of humor and incredible insights on life and relationships.  His marriage to Kathy Davidson made his life whole.  Although we haven't been seeing each other much since he moved south, I miss him dearly.
