Robert Edward McGowan

Robert Edward McGowan, affectionately known as Bob, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 18, 2026, at the Veterans Home in Chula Vista, California. He was 90 ½ years old.

Born on October 21, 1935, in Los Angeles, Bob was a man defined by his love of knowledge, faith, and dedication. He was the eldest of seven children, all of whom survive him. After graduating from California Polytechnic University, Pomona, he began his professional career as a banker. However, he eventually found his true calling in the San Diego real estate industry, where he worked for many decades as a respected professional and a fixture in the local community.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margo McGowan. He is survived by his two sons, Brian McGowan and Barry McGowan; his four cherished grandchildren; and his six brothers and sisters.

Bob’s life will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 5, 2026:

• Liturgy Service:

at Mother of Confidence Catholic Church, 3131 Governor Drive, San Diego, CA 92122. The family invites friends to speak and share their favorite memories of Bob during this time.

Military Honors & Burial: 1:15 PM at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, CA 92122. Bob will be laid to rest with his loving wife, Margo.

• Reception: Following the military burial ceremony, the family invites guests to return to Mother of Confidence Catholic Church for a luncheon reception to continue celebrating Bob's life.
