Bob was born in Des Moines, Iowa to David and Mary Frances Paul on December 26, 1947. He graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He served as an Officer in the US Navy for four years and spent time in the Philippines. He married Mary Ann Rotunno on October 11, 1975 in Pacific Beach and had two children, David and Kristina.
Bob worked as an engineer at NAVAIR for forty years located at Naval Air Station North Island on Coronado. He was a known handyman in his neighborhood and community – always willing to help with a smile. He enjoyed gardening and was always up for an adventure outdoors, be it hiking, swimming or traveling. Bob loved his family dearly and enjoyed shared moments together. He was popular amongst his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews for happily agreeing to play along and build Legos, do arts and crafts and listen to their stories. Bob was a kind, gentle, and patient man.
Bob is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Ann; his children David (Aimee) and Kristina (Ivan) Galeana; his grandchildren, Jacob, Madison, Jackson, and Baby Paul on the way. Bob is also survived by his brother Richard (Connie) Paul, bother-in-law Louis Rotunno, sister-in-law Nancy (Don) Shields and by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
Memorial donations in memory of Bob may be made to First LEGO League JR’s (www.firstinspires.org) or to the charity of your choice.
May he live forever in our hearts.
