Robert “Rob” Joseph Scott was born in Washington D.C. to Hubert and Diane C Scott and was raised in Southern Maryland with his brother, Tom. Family gatherings and time at the beach on the Chesapeake Bay were some of the most cherishable as well as memorable times of his youth.
Rob was a logical and brilliant scholar. He attended the University of Maryland, where he studied Radio, Television, and Film as well as Mathematics. Post graduation, he had a long career in advanced computing / network engineering and was passionate about his work. He started his career at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington DC, and spent most of his career working for the Department of Defense. Rob was incredibly devoted to his job while he developed life long friendships with several of his colleagues. For the past 13 years, he worked at Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific in San Diego.
Rob was a devoted husband to Diane for 40 years and a proud father to Megan. Together they shared many meaningful memories such as traveling, trips to the beach, visiting family, dinners with friends, relaxing in the pool, and playing games. He was a man of principle, he was proficient, protective, a problem solver, and endlessly resourceful. Rob had a remarkable ability to fix almost anything, whether it was mechanical, technical, work related, or life problems. Diane and Megan will miss his wit, his wisdom, his delicious barbecue meals, and his unforgettable dad jokes. His presence truly brought both strength and humor to his family as well as those around him.
