It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad, Rolando R. Convento, Sr. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on July 15, 2026. He is now reunited with his wife, Aurea, who preceded him in death. They were married for 61 years before she passed away in January 2020.
Rolando proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years. He was a Vietnam veteran with a notable career highlighted in serving at the White House under Presidents Lyndon B. Johnson and Richard Nixon.
Rolando enjoyed gardening, going to casinos with family, celebrating family events with the Convento clan, and spoiling all his grandsons. He was indeed a ‘Master Chef’ and we will miss all his home cooked meals!
Rolando is survived by his four children, Reynold (Nancy), Rolando Jr., Rosemary, and Rowena; nine grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; his siblings – Gene, Sally, Eva, Lee, Romeo, and Conrad.
Visitation will be held at El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley Chapel, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121, US, on August 11, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Rosary will be prayed at 5pm.
A Funeral Mass will take place at San Rafael Catholic Church, 17252 Bernardo Center Drive
San Diego, CA 92128, on August 12, 2026, at 10:00 am.
Committal Service & Burial With Honors will follow at El Camino Cemetery, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121 on August 12, 2026, at 12:00 pm.
Dad will be greatly missed and remembered as a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Eternal rest grant unto Rolando, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
