Rosita "Rose" Macaraig Zara

Our beloved Rosita “Rose” M. Zara has left her earthly home on December 29, 2016 in San Diego, California. She is the lovingly devoted wife of Jose “Joe” B. Zara. They shared 59 years of marriage together. Born in the city of Batangas, province of Batangas in the Philippines she was the 3rd offspring of eleven children of Nemesio Macaraig and Genoveva Lacsamana Macaraig. She graduated with a Masters Degree of Education and became an elementary school teacher at Sta. Clara Elementary School in Batangas for 30 years. She belonged to the parish at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in San Diego. She immensely enjoyed sewing having come from a family of seamstresses which became her passion. She will be remembered for her kindness to little children and her thoughtfulness and concern to the people around her. Her devotion to her core family is beyond compare. She is survived by her husband Joe Zara and three children Gay Zara, Jolly Zara and Glee Ong married to Cesar Ong and grandchildren Gavin C. Ong, Cydrx J. Ong and Joshua Zara. The funeral service will be held on January 3, 2017 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm with interment at Dignity El Camino Memorial – Sorento Valley cemetery. The viewing will be held from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon followed by a memorial service at 12:00 noon to the time of the interment.
