Salah Hassanein was a great man that an influence on 1000's of people and his generosity touched millions of lives; not only in the United States but around the globe. Even in his country of origin, Egypt, which he never forgot to the last days of his life. He will be missed as mentor, father, and a generous philanthropist.

There is one word that comes to mind when I think of Salah and that is human compassion. Salah is a person that put others ahead of his own needs and had a huge love for life. He always made guest feel welcomed in his home, made sure they had enough to eat, and always had a smile for a friend. He loved the horse races, his friends , family and most of all his love for Zandra was overwhelming. The bond between those two was magical , dynamic and one that will forever remain in my mind as a match made in heaven. He will be dearly missed by all of us here on earth and I sure hope there is some good Vodka in heaven for you my friend!

As I served as President of the Boys and Girls Club in Astoria , New York, I got to experience and understand the commitment of Salah to improving the lives of children. Salah lived on the West Coast but his heart never left those children on the East Coast. I have never met a man more devoted to a cause or more caring, truly the best I have ever known.
