Grandpa Sandy was and will always be the happiest man I have ever known. There was never a time he was unsuccessful in putting a smile on my face... Or anyone's for that matter. 
I will never forget everyday after school, getting picked up with Randall, going to Grandpa and Grandma's house and eating with them at the table - getting offered just about every food they had in the house. He (as well as Grandma Linda and Grandma Norma) never failed to attend any parties our family had, including the most recent, my baby shower. Grandpa Sandy was extremely happy for me and ecstatic about my baby; I am completely heartbroken he didn't get the chance to meet my son, but I know he will be with us every step of the way and we will always have our amazing angel... It is difficult to come to the reality of this loss, but he will never be forgotten, and eternally cherished. Forever in my heart, I love and miss you Grandpa. 

Uncle Sandy, Auntie Linda and the Gaters Family have always been family to us.  They were our only support system when we came to the US from the Philippines over 35 years ago.  Our entire family was devastated to hear the news of his passing.
Uncle Sandy was such a kind and caring person, but his sense of humor is what I will remember most.  Jokes and laughter were guaranteed every time you saw Uncle.  It was always his mission to put a smile on your face.  My kids loved seeing their “Grandpa Sandy” at our family gatherings, or just stopping by their house with Nanay to say hello to him and Grandma Linda, and Grandma Norma.
Rest in Paradise Uncle Sandy… It was an honor to have known you, and a great privilege to have called you Uncle/Grandpa.  Thank you for the many years of laughter.  We love you and will miss you terribly.

 One of the many reasons why I loved  San Diego  was because of him. Growing up all us kids called him  GPa Sunday. He  made us laugh. He made us know love. 
Grandma Linda and Grandpa would make us corn beef and rice. I always loved going to their house. He always made all of us kids feel special.

 My memories of him will ensure he  lives forever. 
I love you and will miss you  Grandpa Sandy. 

Uncle Sandy was my favorite uncle and for many reasons. Using cliches of kinds words as a means to pay my last respect would be unjust. However, he truly was the epitome of a wonderful, thoughtful and especially caring uncle. Following are a few of my fondest memories starting with the Philippines. I was his "chick bait" and designated chaperone on his movie date with auntie Linda. It worked, for they have been together ever since and until his unfortunate demise.  In my experience during my visits to San Diego, uncle was engaging and attentive.  He had not once forgotten to ask me if I wanted kare kare, my favorite dish. He made me feel very especial as I am positive he did with  all his nieces and nephews. Uncle Sandy, I will miss you and will forever cherish the memories of my time spent  with you.
