It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Scott Joseph Gebhard, Jr., who left this world far too soon on June 29, 2025, at the age of 29.
Scott, known to some of his family as “Joseph” who was an immensely beloved husband, son, father, nephew, brother, cousin, uncle and friend to many. Scott had a lively personality, a love for his children, and a spirit that couldn’t be ignored. He was intelligent and personable as he loved to talk and spend time with family and friends. He was very easy to please and was always thankful for even the littlest of things. He faced many challenges in his life, but he also carried with him a capacity for love, humor, and connection that touched those closest to him.
Scott was the loving father of Anchor and Braxton, and stepfather to Kali. He loved his children with all his heart as they were the most important part of his life. He loved going on adventures with his kids — from spontaneous hikes to beach days, skateboarding, from seeing movies together to giggling during long drives. He found joy in the simple moments: splashing in the waves, laughing over snacks, and creating memories his children will always carry with them. His memory will live on through them, and they will forever be part of the legacy he leaves behind.
Scott was born September 18, 1995, in Austin, Texas to Leticia McGee and Scott Gebhard, Sr. Scott arrived in San Diego in May of 1996 and welcomed into the care of his Aunt and Uncle, Debbie and John Pizzo. He was loved and raised as one of their sons. Scott grew up in Clairemont attending Alcott Elementary, Marston Middle, Clairemont and University City High schools. Scott received a B.S. degree in Cyber and Data Security Technology from the University of Arizona in July of 2023. He was a Clairemont Hilltopper, in which he stated where some of his best memories. Scott started worked at Airgas,USA in 2016 as cylinder loader moving up in the company to a gas cylinder filler and then to the position of Inventory Control Analyst for San Diego. Scott was a dedicated, hard worker that never hesitated to help where needed.
Scott embraced adventure with his wife and children. Whether the trips were big or small, they filled their days with laughter, love, and cherished memories as a family. Scott loved worshiping with his family — attending church together, and lifting his hands to the Lord with joy.
Scott gave his life to the Lord and accepted Jesus as his Savior when he married his wife, Ariel Gebhard. That decision marked the beginning of a faith journey that transformed his life. On July 23, 2023, he made a public declaration of his faith through baptism at Center Point Church in Murrieta. He later attended Awaken Church, where he kept his faith and continued to grow in his walk with Christ. His family finds comfort in knowing he is now with his Savior — healed, whole, and at peace.
Scott is survived by his wife Ariel, children: Anchor, Braxton, Stepdaughter Kali. His parents Debbie and John Pizzo. His birth parents, Leticia McGee and Scott Gebhard Sr. His brothers and sister Billy, Justin, Josh, Elijah, and Luke, Jeremiah, Matthew, Ashlynn and Joshua. His nephews and nieces.
