

Proceeded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) Chase, her uncle Robert Peterson, her sister Diane (Bob) Ford, her daughter in law Robin Ralston and nephew Rob Ford. Born in 1940 to Dr. Robert Hughes and wife Gladys in Ottumwa Iowa. Sherry moved to San Diego with her mom and sister Diane to finish high school (Pt. Loma High School 1958) and completed two years of college. She spent many years living her life enjoying traveling and soaking up rays at her favorite California beaches. She enjoyed spending time with her two sons Bill and Jeff Ralston whom she loved unconditionally. She and two friends went on a Mission Trip to the Swaziland in Africa. They taught tribes how to plant seedlings for food. She was blessed to travel with her Church Family to Israel and experience the Biblical paths of Jesus. She was baptized in the Jordan River. In 1995 she met her Prince Charming Bob Chase. They were married in San Diego in 1997. Sherry retired as an admin for the Dean of Counseling at Grossmont College in 2002. She joined Bob’s real estate company and together they worked side by side until Bob’s untimely death in 2004. Sherry spent the rest of her life helping others which included being a caregiver, delivering food for Meals on Wheels, sponsoring a child through World Vision, and being very active with Faith Chapel. She moved to Tucson in 2020 to be cared for by her Niece Jill Hayes. She was a compassionate, fun-loving person, who had a zest for life and will truly be missed.
She is survived by her sons Bill (Robin) and Jeff Ralston, step son Robert Chase, step daughters Lori Stone and Hilary (Bill) Pa’ane, her nieces Jill Hayes (Russell) and Sue Ford (Rob), nephew Gary Ford and great nephews Austin Hayes, Mike
Ford (Jessica), Dan Ford (Stephanie), Justin Ford (Braelyn), great nieces Ashlee (Colton) and Brittney Garcia (Daniel). Her grandchildren Duke and Melia Pa’ane, Vincent, Tommy, and Anthony Marinelli.
Celebration of life will be held on August 28, 12:00 pm at Faith Chapel in San Diego. A potluck luncheon (Sherry’s favorite meal) will be held immediately following the service.
