OBITUARY

STACEY LYNN MURPHY

September 21, 1955March 7, 2020

Stacey passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2020 after a long illness. He was a brother, a son, an uncle, as well as an amazing friend to many. Stacey lived his life with joy and believed in sharing that joy with others. He always looked at the bright side of life and was never without a smile whenever you saw him.

Stacey was born in San Francisco, California and spent his formative years in Menlo Park, California. It was during those years when he showed an affinity for the arts. This included starting a singing group called the Safari Four and creating the wardrobe for the group. After graduating from Menlo Atherton High School, Stacey held positions in the banking industry. He eventually moved to Los Angeles, California. While there, he worked at the Writer’s Guild of America for many years. His colleagues described Stacey as a care-free, warm, and loving individual to all that knew him.

In 1997, Stacey fell ill and moved to the northern part of San Diego County. He spent the remainder of his life living in Escondido, Vista, and San Marcos. Wherever he went, Stacey continued to share his zest for life with everyone who met him. We will miss him, his infectious sense of humor, wonderful smile and his warm and enormous heart.

Stacey is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Daria Murphy, his brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Loan Murphy, his sister and brother-in-law, Alison and Anthony Forney, his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Shirley Murphy, his brother, Kenneth Murphy. He was preceded in passing, by his parents, Warren and Edna Murphy, and his older sister, Joanne Murphy and younger brother, Lance Murphy. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

I would first like to give my condolences to the Murphy family. My heart is heavy and sadden when I reflect and reminisce of the fun we had growing up in Menlo Park. Stacey had a personality that withdrew you to him. He was funny, outgoing and adventurous, an overall kind person. I remember he was the first and only guy I knew who could sew. I'll always cherish the time we spent in San Francisco when he took me to my Senior Prom. Our paths didn't cross in our adult life however, I'm thankful for the time we shared growing up. Rest in Heavenly Peace my dear friend.

This is truly sad news and while it's been decades since I saw him, he cannot be remembered without one seeing a smile on his face. And a little trivia: He did a PERFECT lip synch of Bob Seger's "Against The Wind." RIP, Stacey.
