Stephen William Sawyer

Steve was born in Virginia and was the son of William and Ariel Sawyer. They moved to San Diego when he was 8 yrs old. He lived in Allied Gardens and graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1972. Steve married Lisa Zetterlund in 1993. He and Lisa had 1 son, Michael (1995). Steve worked at the County of San Diego office, Target and Albertsons.

Steve will always be remembered for being an avid reader, an encyclopedia on San Diego sports, his big smile, his funny one liners, his love of music and big burritos. And most importantly, his love for our Lord Jesus Christ.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, William Wesley Sawyer, in 2009 and his brothers, Charles Sawyer in 2017 and Timothy Sawyer in 2022. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Dr. Russell Paul Zetterlund, in 1996.

Steve is survived by his wife Lisa Sawyer (nee Zetterlund) and his son Michael Sawyer, his mother, Ariel Sawyer, Lynn and David Carney (nee Sawyer), Peter and Allison Sawyer. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Kay Zetterlund, Debera and Gary Hendricks (nee Zetterlund), Julie Mills (nee Zetterlund), Brad and Joan Zetterlund, Tim and Erica Zetterlund, Steve and Donna Zetterlund. Steve was an uncle to 15 nieces and nephews.
