Born on October 12, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio to George and Dorothy Douglass, Terry moved to California when he was a teenager with his parents and younger brother Thomas. He was in the Class of 1956 at Santa Monica High School and a graduate of Long Beach State College. He built a successful career as a construction materials sales representative, a career augmented by his natural charisma and ability to connect with people. Terry kept friends for life, friends he made in school, at work, and in his service as a National Guardsman.
Terry’s greatest joy, however, was his soulmate Barbara (MacDonald) whom he married in 1961. They made San Diego their home in 1975 and enjoyed a vibrant life of traveling, attending live theater productions, and getting together with friends and family until Barbara’s death in 2016.
Terry was predeceased by his wife and his brother. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Virginia Archer (Richard); his niece, Julie Mayo (Stephen); his nephew, Stephen Archer (Patricia); and his grandnephews and grandniece, Derek Mayo, Jason Mayo, and Rose Archer.
