Thais was born in Burbank California. As a child, Thais moved between California and Nevada, but spent the majority of her life in Southern California. In 1957 she met the love of her life Daniel Aguirre and married on February 27, 1960. She and her husband raised four children in Azusa, California. In 1984, Thais and Danny, three of their four children, and one grandchild followed their neighbors and family friends to San Diego county. Thais spent several years working at a cactus nursery, Silhouettes of the Desert, in Vista. There she developed a love for cacti and succulents. In 1999, at the suggestion of her children, Thais purchased a Mail Boxes Etc. Franchise, which later became The UPS Store. For 20 years Thais was in her store everyday helping her friends and neighbors in the Vista community of Shadowridge.
In 2014, Thais was diagnosed with lung cancer. She battled and beat it twice between 2014 and 2018. In March 2020, Thais reluctantly retired as it was not wise for her to be interacting with the public due to her age, health, and the COVID-19 pandemic. In January 2021, her lung cancer returned. This time the battle was just too much.
Thais is survived by her five children, Danny, Gina, Laura, Jennifer, and Megan, her four son-in-laws, Tim, Daren, Joe, and Chase, her five grandchildren, Shane, Steven and wife Melissa, Jared, Kellen, And Ryane, and three great grandchildren Loralei, Rory, and Leilani.
