Tom was born in San Diego California, to Helen and Kenneth Sharp and was preceded in death
by his father Kenneth. Tom was their second child and was born three years after his sister
Janice. He lived in Clairemont and was part of a supportive, caring community. Tom played the
role of Mr. Fix it for his neighbors and they looked out for him as well. He went to all local
schools and after a tour of duty in the Navy reserve; where he met some of his lifelong friends,
attended San Diego Mesa College. He was a gifted woodworker. He knew every type of wood,
got to create with much of it and leaves a legacy of craftsmanship all over San Diego and in
Colorado where his niece Jill Comer lives with her husband, Don and their four children. Tom
was engaged to be married to the love of his life, Joyce Lee. He was an active member of
Clairemont Emanuel Baptist Church and had a great love for his church family. Tom worked at
Santa Fe Christian Schools where he was loved by many. He was absolutely overwhelmed by
the generosity that is SFC after having shoulder surgery in March, as meals were brought home
by his neighbor, friend and boss, several times a week for six weeks from the caring Santa Fe
“family.” He was very personable and always had a joke or pun to brighten someone’s day.
Services will be held on Monday, June 18th at 2:00 pm at Clairemont Emanuel Baptist Church.
