He joined the Navy in 1944 and spent three years in the Pacific. He was a World War II veteran. He met the love of his life, Marjorie, in San Diego and they were married on July 12, 1953.
Tom became an insurance agent and became self employed with his own agency, Tanana Insurance Agency. He worked many years in the insurance industry and eventually retired.
Tom was a sportsman. He liked to hunt, fish, gather abolone in Point Loma and net lobster in the jetty of Mission Bay. He loved his boat, the Scopalu. For many years he took his boat out every Sunday and provided his family with fresh fish. He loved to cook too. He was a handyman and could fix anything. His garage was always open and welcoming. He generously helped neighbors and friends. This year he helped our plumber fix a metal swing with an acetylene torch. He remodeled and did all maintenance on his property.
Tom and Marge took their family camping all the time. He especially enjoyed camping in Baja with family friends, the Jenesses and the Hicocks and numerous others. Tom was a traveler. He and Marge traveled Europe, Russia, Mexico and many National Parks and cities in the United States.
Tom was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He will be remembered for his friendly smile, genuine concern for others and a twinkle in his eye. He loved to tease.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie. His children Thomas Scott, Holli Williamson and Paul. His grandchildren, Vanesa Gingold and her husband Brian, and Thomas Williamson, aka, TJ. He will be missed by his Y group, his K of C, his neighbors and friends and all the others who interacted with him regularly.
He will be missed by all but especially by Marjorie.
