This retreat in AUG2010 was such a blessed memory.  Tom, your memory, voice, wisdom and fingerprints are with us forever.  Thank you for the walk alongside.  The views are magnificent.

Today, I remember not just a colleague, but a true friend. We worked side by side in the demanding world of aerospace since 2003—a world of long hours, high stakes, and relentless problem-solving. Through it all, he never lost his sharp mind, steady hands, and quiet dedication. He gave everything to the job, not for glory, but because he cared deeply about getting it right and was always willing to lend a hand.

But there was another side to Tom—the sailor. When we could steal a day away, we’d trade jet engines for sails and spreadsheets for sea charts. Out there on the water, he was just as focused, just as calm, just as quietly joyful. He loved the wind in his face with a big smile, the challenge, the quiet rhythm of the sea.

In both work and sailing, he had the soul of an engineer and the heart of an explorer. I did not know about his travels to other countries with others for religious retreats. Tom was a true saint. But for me, he was the kind of friend you’re lucky to find once in a lifetime—steady, loyal, and always there when it mattered.  Always gathering people or inviting me to have lunch if we could make it. A wonderful human being.

I would like to say to Tom's wonderful wife and his Eloquent sons that Tom lived enough to get all of God's works completed! I know it is hard to grasp this right now but It's as if he lived to be 100! Tom was so beyond his years!

So here’s to Tom, the Husband, the Dad, the Friend, the Special Man—may he have fair winds and that big smile when he meets God, and may we carry forward the examples he has set for us to use every day!! God Bless Tom and the Family!!

I met Tom first time at work about 12 years ago. His kind and gentle mutual introduction with a friendly smile is still fresh in my memory.  Someday he invited me to his monthly lunch meetings with his Christian group at work. We realized shortly that we were going to CBCSD but different congregations.  We stayed in touch as a colleague and a friend over years.  Before the pandemic I had the opportunity to show Tom walking around Taipei Station business district and enjoyed local food and beer near a college-side night market that a foreign visitor alone perhaps cannot experience.  We started a 3-person fellowship meeting around September 2023, including another CBCSD brother Chuck Chang, once every other week.  Over the series of meetings, I got to know Tom better into his Christian life.  Praying is his life instinct.  He prayed for/with not only the believers but also non-believers.  Tom lived up to his believe in Lord’s salvation and always wanted to help people being saved.  His love in Christ often extended to the strangers.  Tom is a model Christian to me.  It has been my blessing to know Tom and develop many valuable memories together over these years. 
I treasure the path with Tom in my life.  Tom now lives in the eternal world with Heavenly Father around.  I pray that God comfort Connie, Noah, and George at the difficult time and bless the family forever.

I am eternally grateful to have known Tom.  From the moment I met him, he has been a blessing in my life as a friend and spiritual mentor.  His humility, kindness, gentle nature and sense of humor were apparent to all.  His love for God, the Church and his family made him a role model in my eyes.  I was saddened when Tom and Connie left San Diego for Anaheim, but I felt in my heart that they would eventually return.  Now I am saddened again that Tom has left us, but I know I will see him again in eternity.  

My prayers go out to Connie, Noah, George and the extended Tye family.  May the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, encompass you during this difficult time.

Dear Tye Family,
It has been our blessing and honor to have known Tom. He is surely a Godly, faithful, loving, and friendly brother in Christ! We loved his constant joyful smiles, and he always goes out of his way to get to know everyone around him. We will always remember a week before he went to be with the Lord that he came over to shake our hands after Sunday Service and just a simple catch up. Tom has deeply touched our lives through his cheerfulness and kindness, and he is a testimony of God's amazing love! We are grateful for his many years of faithful service as a Deacon in LG! He is dearly missed, but we take comfort knowing he is at a better place and we will all reunite with him one day.

Just like in the picture, Tom always smiled.
He was a good friend, a dear brother, and a trusted colleague. Before he retired, we often enjoyed regular fellowship over lunch with a close group of colleagues. Sometimes, we’d meet one-on-one for more personal conversations.

Though we sometimes held slightly different views on our political system, we always returned to the Bible. I truly believe Tom loved our Lord deeply and had a genuine passion for serving—especially the marginalized.

I will miss his smile, and I will miss our open, honest conversations.

My deepest condolences to my "Hakka" sister Connie—for losing your soul mate on this earth far too soon. And to Noah and George—for missing your dad’s proud smile over your accomplishments and your unwavering faith in our Lord.

Tom and I met nearly every week for coffee whenever we were back in SD.  We had conversations on many topics including domestic & world affairs, personal experiences, past & present, and much more.  At the end of every session we'd say, "We solved all the world's problems...til we meet again, God willing." I will miss Tom's company. He was a good friend and a great person, who had unwavering faith in the word of God.

It was a shocking news! Tom's sudden passing leaves an unfillable void in the lives of all who loved him. With his quick wit, infectious humor, and generous heart, Tom had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard, and loved. As a devoted prayer warrior and faithful encourager, he spent his life lifting others up and pointing them to Jesus. I'm grateful to have served alongside him on the Deacon Board, where his wisdom and guidance were invaluable. Tom was also a beloved member of our TGIF small group fellowship, where he consistently demonstrated his passion for the Word of God and his desire to see others grow in their faith. I will miss his love, wisdom, and guidance, but his legacy of faith, love, and laughter will continue to inspire and uplift by all his family and friends. May the peace of Jesus be with you, Connie, George and Noah. We will all meet again in our heavenly home.

Tom was always a friend, mentor, and spiritual leader for me.  God bless.

Tom came over to visit me many times... 
He seemed to always take interest in the things I liked... Such as piano playing, fishing, and outboard motors... One of the kindest brothers I ever knew...
