Thomas Martin Weary

Thomas Martin Weary was born July 21, 1960, in Kansas City, MO, and grew up in Leawood, KS, graduating from Shawnee Mission East High School in 1978. While a student at Harvard College, Tom resided in Eliot House and was active in the Harvard Glee Club, the University Choir, the Gilbert & Sullivan Players and the Phoenix Club. He received his AB, cum laude in philosophy, in 1982, and had a lifelong passion for the classics of ancient Greece and Rome. Tom spent his career in the financial services industry, working in Boston, Hong Kong, California and Delaware. His most recent position was as Chief Investment Officer at Reilly Financial Advisors in San Diego, CA. Tom was an avid weightlifter for decades, winning the USA Weightlifting National Championship title for his age and weight class at age 55. After giving up the barbell in recent years, he enjoyed playing golf and organizing tournaments with a close group of friends. Tom passed away in San Diego on July 22, 2022, from acute myeloid leukemia after a year battling a rare blood disorder. He is survived by his wife, Melanie Tyler, daughters Evelina Guilherme, Taylor Weary and Ashley Weary, son Brandt Weary, stepson Robbie Tyler, mother Barbara Weary, and sisters Alison Henderson, Catherine Weary and Eileen Boster.

A celebration of life was held on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at 10 a.m. at El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley & Memorial Park in San Diego.
