A MESSAGE FROM THE FAMILY
Virginia Louise Cantarini passed quietly in her sleep on June 6th, 2025 after enduring arthritis and battling dementia. She was a devoted and loved wife, mother and aunt. Virginia was born on April 19th, 1938 in Oklahoma to Van and Nora McGrew. She was the youngest of 13 children and is survived by sister Connie, sons Brian and Tony(Gina), and numerous nephews and nieces. The family moved to Southern California when she was a child and spent her early years in Bellflower CA until they moved to El Cajon where she attended Grossmont High School. She had fond memories of marching in parades with the band as a member of the tall flags team. After high school she worked in a Carnation Ice Cream Parlor and modeled for Lane Bryant. She married Elvetzi Cantarini Jr and helped with bookkeeping at the family service stations. She held other accounting jobs at restaurants and a private school then turned to her last job as a teacher until she retired. She was a member of the Republican Women's Club of San Diego and was an American Patriot who loved the United States of America and who traveled over its vast expanse many times. She will be layed to rest next to her beloved husband of 47 years who we lost in 2005.
