

Lange, Walden A. (Wally) 10/15/41 – 6/16/15 Escondido- Walden Alfred Lange was born on Oct 15, 1941 in Ridgewood, New Jersey and passed away on June 16, 2015 from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. He was the oldest of 4 children born to Alfred and Virginia Lange. Growing up, his interests were Little League, school ASB, lifeguarding, and Boy Scouts where he was a camp counselor and an Eagle Scout. After graduation from Ridgewood HS, he attended Duke University where he was a cheerleader and member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. He entered Naval Officer Candidate School in 1963 and after commission became a communications officer aboard the USS Kemper County in SD. In 1964 he met Alice Fox and they were married in August 1965. After serving in the USN, he joined the Reserves for 26 yrs and attained the rank of Captain. He worked for 29 years as a management analyst, retiring in 1992 as assoc for Total Quality Leadership at NOSC. In retirement, Wally and Alice did extensive traveling and enjoyed their 6 grandchildren. In his autobiography Wally wrote, “I think the most precious things I have are my wife, my two daughters, my six grandchildren, family, and my memories of high school friends, Navy comrades, and Duke fraternity brothers. Life would be incomplete if any one of these were missing.” He is survived by his wife Alice, daughter Dotty Lange Carreno, her husband John, and their 4 children, daughter Kim Lange Tarke, her husband Adrian, and their 2 children, his brother Dick of Connecticut, brother Steve, his wife Sara, and daughter Laurie of Michigan, and sister Dotty and her husband Jim of Georgia.
