William Calvin “Jerry” Anderson passed on May 7, 2025 at 96 years of age. Born on November 26, 1928, William lived a long and fruitful life. Widowed following the death of his wife Florene Winters in 1990, William is survived by his three children, Kenneth, Richard, and Teresa (Lumato). Born in San Diego, California to Paul Anderson and Laura Westerfield, he spent most of his life in the area save for the time he spent serving 22 years in the United States Air Force at varied air bases around the world. His passion and pride was in serving as crew chief for the B-47 aircraft and working at Strategic Air Command Headquarters during the years of the Cold War.
William retired from the USAF in 1968 and worked for another 10 years with the United States Postal Service as a carrier before retiring from that service, qualifying him to be a “double-dipper” in retirement benefits from government service, something for which he took pride.
Noted for a dry sense of humor and great generosity to family and friends, William lived a fulfilling, productive, and positive life and was a steady and cherished contributor to our society. He changed the lives of many and gave us memories we will always cherish. He will be fondly remembered and missed.
