William Henry East

On Sunday April 23rd the services that will be held for Bill are a Visitation from 11 AM -12 PM in the Chapel, a Funeral Service from 12 PM - 1:30 PM in the Chapel, and a Committal Service at the Cemetery from 2 PM - 2:30 PM.

Bill was born on January 23, 1929 in Bloomington, Indiana and had 10 brothers and sisters. His father was Stacy Milford East and his mother was Sylvia Marie Conner (East).

After getting his GED, he spent 8 years in the US Navy and reserves, and also received a technical degree in Aeronautical Engineering and a BA in Mathematics.

His favorite jobs were working at NASA, and working in the Aerospace industry for 12 years as a Sr. Computer Systems Specialist.

Bill married the love of his life, Gloria Carvajal, on March 19, 1955. They lived in Los Angeles, CA and Houston, TX before settling in San Diego, CA in 1966; Bill and Gloria celebrated their beautiful life together and their 68th anniversary on March 19, 2023.

Bill’s hobbies were playing soccer, camping, kayaking, boating, swimming, fishing, rock-climbing, traveling, skiing, going to the beach, joining the rocket society, and working on the family genealogy. He also enjoyed his many years as a soccer coach and softball coach for his children and grandchildren. Some of his most favorite pastimes were family gatherings and celebrations, our family vacations in Lake Tahoe, and especially our multiple family raft outings down the Truckee River.

He is survived by his wife (Gloria), his six children (Barbara, John, Sylvia, Dolores, Robert, and Linda), 12 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by five of his ten siblings ~ Earnest, Rhea Dawn, Mary, Patty, and Joe. He is preceded in death by his father (Stacy) and his mother (Sylvia), and five siblings (Don, Bob, John, Virginia, and Roger).
