William Francis Mamede, Jr., passed away suddenly at his home on May 3, 2012. He was born on January 19, 1951. Bill was the youngest man in the tuna fisheries to attain the rating of Chief Engineer, and he fished out of Somora. He attended school in San Diego, CA, Gloucester, MA and Las Vegas, NV. Bill is survived by his mother, Cora Montez Brown, and his uncle, John Sutton of Gloucester, MA. He is also survived by his special cousins, Jim Lobel of San Diego and Margaret York of Gloucester, MA. In addition he is also survived by many nephews and nieces along with many friends. Bill is preceded in death by his brother, Marlo Mamede, who was lost at sea, his father, William F. Mamede of San Diego, CA, and his stepfather, Ralph K. Brown of Gloucester, MA. Services are pending.
A Memorial Service is planned for Friday, May 18, 2012 @ 6:00 PM at the Club Marina in Point Loma.
