William Boyd Pierce

January 27, 1945 – August 3, 2026

William (Bill) Pierce passed away peacefully on August 3rd surrounded by his family and close friends. He was a deeply loved husband, father, grandfather and friend whose impact will be felt for generations.

After graduating from San Diego Barber College, he worked at his family-owned barber shop, Ted’s Cabrillo Barber, before entering the Air Force in 1965. While in the service, Bill deployed to Vietnam where he served as a crew chief on the F4 Phantom II Fighter Jets. During that time, he also had the honor to cut the hair of many top military officers, including General Westmoreland and General Wheeler.

After his discharge in 1969, he left barbering to accept a job as a Utility Driver and later promoted to Feeder Driver for UPS, and distinguished himself by driving over a million miles while with the company. After retiring from UPS after 33 years he worked part-time as a private driver for San Diego Productions, a movie set production company.

Bill possessed a generous heart and fun-loving personality. He was an avid Padres and Chargers fan and enjoyed attending live games with his family. His greatest joy in life was Christmas family get-togethers – featuring games, laughter, and most of all, home cooked food.

Bill is survived by his family; Janet (Pierce) Williams, Patricia Pierce; his sons Matthew, William (Billy), and Theodore (TJ); daughter Maya, his grandchildren Lindsay, Wyatt, Zack; daughter-in-laws Kim, Brittany, and nephew Ray Matthews.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday August 28, at 10:00 AM at El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego CA 92121.
