Daniel O'Neill

Daniel J. O’Neill “DJ” was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 27, 1924 to May and Daniel T. O’Neill. He married Dorothy Mitchell on July 30, 1949. They moved to Tujunga CA (the hills of health) in 1953 and raised their three children Peggy, Danny, and Debbie in the home DJ lived in until his death on Monday, March 19, 2012. DJ was known to have said on many occasions that he felt better and better with each state westward he traveled. He claimed that he was cured from his asthma one week after he got to his new home in California.

He was widowed after 51 years of marriage to Dorothy. Many years later, when he and a childhood neighbor and former sweetheart married at ages 82 and 79, both families were gifted with their new found joy. Widowed again at 86, he took the loss gracefully. He is survived by daughter Peggy Ann O’Neill, son Dan J. O’Neill Jr. (Beverly), granddaughter Lisa O’Neill, grandsons Jeremy Newsome, David Newsome (Angela), great-grandchildren Ryan Papas-Newsome, Chyann Newsome , and Kamryn Newsome. He is also survived by a large extended family.

DJ/Dad was our moral compass who never stopped showing us how to live. We loved him dearly and will sorely miss him. Looking forward to our reunion…spread your joy in heaven until we see you again.
