Maria was born in Douglas, AZ on January 20, 1923. She married Nicholas Lamas in 1958 and moved to San Fernando.
Maria was dedicated to her faith, and was actively involved in the Santa Rosa Catholic Parish. She worked in the rectory office for many years, was PTA Treasurer as well as local President of La Sociedad Guadalupanas. She also served the community of San Fernando as Polling Place Coordinator during election days. These activities allowed her to build long lasting friendships, which she enjoyed with great enthusiasm.
She loved to travel throughout the United States, particularly by train, to enjoy the leisure of the journey and take in the sights. She often organized group day trips to area casinos to combine her love of travel with spending time with friends. Maria was equally passionate about cooking, and most enjoyed preparing meals for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed the challenge of crossword puzzles.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers who showed kindness and compassion towards Maria.
She is survived by her husband Nick, her two children Alvina (Eddie Esquivel) and Raul (Denise), eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren who will miss her dearly.
