Akira Ohno

Born February 17, 1927 in San Pedro, California to Saisuke and Hisae Washimura Ohno; brother to Saeko and Fujiko; loving husband and companion of Tomoko; father to son Peter and daughter-in-law Midori; proud grandfather of Robert and Kathleen.

Mr. Ohno returned to Japan when still young, and lived in the town of Gobo in Wakayama prefecture. He completed his primary education and returned to the United States in 1948 to earn his diploma at San Francisco State University. After graduation, Mr. Ohno worked at Mitsubishi International Corporation until his retirement. A lifelong golfer, Mr. Ohno played golf until his 2010 bout with stomach cancer left him without the endurance to continue playing. Tee it high, hit it long, and knock it close, Dad.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 10 at 6:00 pm at the San Francisco Buddhist Church, 1881 Pine St., San Francisco, CA, 94109. Mr. Ohno will be interred in a private ceremony at the Japanese Cemetery in Colma, CA.
