On Sunday, January 28, 2024 Alexander “Alex” Ramirez Huerta was called home into the arms of his God and maker, whose presence was a constant guiding light throughout his life.
Alex was born March 10, 1937 in Los Angeles, California the fourth of six children to Rodrigo Najar Huerta and Sarah Ramirez Huerta.
As a child and young man, Alex resided with his family in Santa Paula, Orosi, Seville, Gardena, and the Keystone neighborhood of Torrance (now Carson), California. As an adult he resided in Sacramento, Novato, Moss Beach, Coarsegold, and Fremont, California where he worked as an auto mechanic and residential property manager.
Alex was married three times. First to Deanna Maureen Dubry in 1967. Second to Patricia Ann Singleton in 1977, and later to Barbara Dee Kelley. His second marriage, to Patricia, gave Alex the gift of two children, a daughter named Sunnie and a son named Anthony.
It was with Sunnie that Alex lived his final years in Fremont not far from Anthony who resides in San Francisco with his husband.
As a young man, Alex was a competitive boxer, nicknamed the Toy Bulldog. He admired classic cars and enjoyed the freedom of the open road, often taking long trips by RV. He spent time crab fishing, and he had a weakness for Snickers bars and pineapple soda.
But far beyond the things of this earth, it was his love and devotion to God that most defined his life, and Alex made it his mission to speak the Lord’s message of redemption often and with heartfelt conviction.
In addition to his children, Alex is survived by his younger sister, Eliza “Aunt Alice” Gutierrez and a large extended family who lovingly referred to him as Tacho.
Alex will be remembered with love and fondness by all who were touched by his presence. Godspeed, Alex, may you rest in peace.
