

Burton Silvio DeMartini, 98, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 23, 2014. He was born October 29, 1916 in San Francisco, CA the fifth of six children to James J. and Catherine A. DeMartini. He graduated from University of San Francisco and went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad. He spent time working in accounting in the private sector as well. He became the devoted caregiver of his dear mother in her later years and his family was always so grateful. He enjoyed the opera for many years with his true companion of many years, Alda Maggiora, and was able to meet the great Pavarotti. He enjoyed visiting Carmel, Linden ranches and Lake Tahoe where he enjoyed a little gambling fun. He also enjoyed following Notre Dame football, the San Francisco Giants and the Boston Red Sox.
We wish to express our sincere gratitude to the entire Maggiora family (Joseph, Alda, Sara, Frankie, Queena, Desiree and Michelle) for all their love and care as they made Burton an integral part of their lives and a member of their family as well.
Besides Alda (his loyal and dear friend) he is also survived by his Sister-in-Law Adeline (wife of Joseph) DeMartini, nieces and nephews, Diane DeMartini, Michael (Anne)DeMartini, Stephen (Nancy) DeMartini, Bernard DeMartini, Leslie Walker, James DeMartini, Paul DeMartini, Warren (Kathy) DeMartini, Janet Williams, Mary (Jose) Mejia, Kathy Tusch and numerous grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews as well. He was preceeded in death by his siblings Teresa (Louie) Perano, Joseph DeMartini, James (Eleanor) DeMartini, Edward (Marie) DeMartini, Bernard (Harriett) DeMartini and nephew Mario DeMartini.
The family would like to thank Home Care caregivers, Nanette and Amelia for their loving care given to our dear Burton.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 8th from 4pm to 8pm with a Rosary at 7pm at Halsted N. Gray – Carew & English, 1123 Sutter St., SF. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 9th, at 10:30am at SS Peter and Paul Church, 666 Filbert St, SF. followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
