We, the Diaz family have lost a true friend and a wonderful founding member of our Union Española. We were especially happy to have met you, her family, at one of our dinners, several years ago. Lari and Elena were able to renew shared memories of High School at St. Rose. I, Jim Díaz wish to share a cherished memory. One afternoon, not more than four years ago, I was waiting for a cab at busy, 490 Sutter Street. Suddenly, I felt someone tugging at my elbow. It was Carmen. She offered to drive me home. Of course, on my two canes I could not follow her .... to reach her car in a nearby parking structure. I could not believe that she dared to drive downtown at rush hour, alone !!! God bless a lovely lady and a treasured friend.
