Charles Edward McCarver died peacefully on July, at the Jewish Home for the Aging, Hospice Care by the Bay Healthcare, San Francisco, Ca. He was born December 23, 1040 in Vernon, Texas, the son of Matthew and Theola (Chandler) McCarver.
Charles graduated from high school in West Texas. Following graduation, he pit his age up by two years to enlist in the Army on May 24, 1946. He served in World War II in the South Pacific for 3 years. After he was wounded, he was sent to Fitzsimons General Hospital in Denver, Colorado, where he was given a honorable discharge. Charles later re-enlisted in the Army where he served another 6 years with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers Station in Anchorage, Alaska. He married Willie Ruth (Rowe) McCarver. He graduated from Heald Engineering College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture on April 30, 1953.
Charles worked for Beck Engineering, Oakland, Ca. for 15 years before going to work for Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) for 25 years in San Francisco, Ca.
His pass time was going to all types of sporting events. His favorite was baseball and football, his beloved team, the San Francisco 49ers. He managed to watch the Dallas Cowboys also. He enjoyed going to the race track, playing pool with friends. Charles was an avid reader of all books, magazines and newspapers. He loved traveling. He won numerous awards while working at PG&E for his designs.
Charles is preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Nola McCarver; Parents, Matthew McCarver and Theola; daughters, Pauline McCarver, Linda McCarver Timms and a brother LeRoy Irvin. Survivors; one daughter, Martha McCarver-Bell, one son Thomas Matthew McCarver, all of Fortworth, TX. One Brother, Donald Ray Irvin of Houston, TX; one nephew, Demetrius Ward of Fort Worth, TX; 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 33 great great grandchildren, 1 soon to be born great grandson and 1 great great grandson; Cousins, Booby Cheatom and Mary Ann Cheatom of San Diego, Ca; Peggy Joyce Bell of Compton, Ca.; Johnny Cheatom and Gloria Brooks of Kansas City, Mo.; Best Friends, Babu (Ray) Patel and Harry Patel of San Francisco, Ca.; Extended family and friends.
