Dale Chow King
October 16, 1922 – November 26, 2018
Dr. Dale Chow King was born in Ah Woo Ren He Village, Guangzhou, China on October 16 1922 to Bing Tai and Ngan Cho. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 9 with his father. He served on the USS Boxer (CVA), the United States Navy and Army during the Korean War and WWII . He received decorated medals and badges for WWII Victory, American Theater, United Nations, China Service, National Defense, and Korean War. He received his DDS from USC and had a successful dental practice in San Francisco for 35 years. After his retirement from dentistry, Dale decided to pursue his life dream of becoming a medical doctor by enrolling in Jinan University School of Medicine in China and graduating with honors. He was a dedicated servant for the Chinatown community and held offices in many civic organizations and family associations. Dale was Chief Executive of The Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association , Chairman of Sam Yup Benevolent Association, President of San Francisco Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Council President of Central Chinese High School, President of Gee Tuck Sam Tuck Association America, Vice President of Gee Tuck World Association ,President of Pon Yup Chong How Benevolent Association ,President of Chew Yee General Chamber of Commerce, Post Commander of American Legion Cathay Post #384, Member of Economic Guidance Committee, and Member of an Exhibition Committee. Dale enjoyed family gatherings, playing Chinese music, writing poetry, traveling, watching movies, and playing mah jong. He is forever cherished in the heart of his wife, Eva Chau King and children: Deborah Wong( Tony Hasegawa), Shirley Ribeiro (Frank), Gordon (Annie), Sherman (Jeannie), Paula (Richard), Elizabeth Devey (David), Marchelle (Gary), and Robin (Cathy). He is loved by his grandchildren: Michael, Chris (Doris), Kimberly, Andrew, Lorraine (Stephen), Kevin (Jennie), Brian, Rebecca, Emily, Natalie, Alana, Mason, and Dylan. He is survived by his sister Yuk Cho, brother Lawrence Cho, and many nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held on December 14, 2018, 6-7 pm, at Green Street Mortuary 649 Green Street, San Francisco. The Funeral service will be December 15, 2018, 9 am at Green Street Mortuary. His final resting place will be Mountain View Cemetery 5000 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, California.
