Beloved husband of the late Adele Giovannoni, devoted father of Frank and Jim (Julia), adoring grandfather of Adele and Chloe, proud uncle of many nieces and nephews passed away March 30 peacefully in San Francisco with his sons by his side. In addition to his wife Adele, he is preceded in death by his brother Peter and sister Lola, parents Assunta (Bertolani) and Salvatore, proud US immigrants from the countryside near Luca, Italy. Frank was a devout Catholic who lived the Christian example of humility, patience and service. Frank lived 90 healthy and active years, was married to his dear wife who he met at a church dance for 43 years until her passing in 1997, and was a native San Franciscan and graduate of Mission High School. Above all, he loved to spend time with his family and was best described by many who knew him simply as "a very nice man". He was an electrician by trade and found great joy in fixing, repairing and building things for his family and friends. He was an avid gardener and loved walking and the outdoors, especially fishing with his sons, and other family members and friends. He continued to spend a summer week in the northern California mountains near Mt. Shasta with his sons, granddaughters and other family members through this last year. He slowed down as the result of a stroke in 2010 but continued to walk his home neighborhood of the Marina district with his dedicated and compassionate caregiver Karen, enjoying the sunshine and the birds until several days before his passing. A private funeral will be held with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army (http://donate.salvationarmyusa.org/) and St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church (http://www.svdpsf.org/).
