Helene Bernice Mathe

On April 28, 2017 in San Francisco, CA peacefully and with family, Hélène Bernice Mathé, loving daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Charles Pierre Mathé and surviving sister of the late Jeanne Mathé Mahan, William L. Mathé and Charles P. Mathé, Jr.

A third-generation Californian born in 1927, Bernice graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart Broadway, attended UC Berkeley and graduated summa cum laude from SF College for Women, Lone Mountain.

She returned to CSH Broadway where she continued to teach and work in administration for 25 years until her retirement.

She is survived by her nieces Suzanne Mahan Wargin, Jeannette Mahan Baumgardner, Jeanne (Dede) Mathé Bruno and her nephew Lawrence Charles Mahan along with 10 grand- and 11 great grand-nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Catholic Charities of San Francisco (catholiccharitiessf.org).

Private services at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
