Jack D'Asaro

September 22, 1925May 13, 2018

Jack was born in Trappeto, Sicily September 22, 1925. He married his love, Giuseppina in 1949 and had his first child, Caterina a year later. In 1951, Jack joined his father in San Francisco to find a better life for his family. In 1956, he returned to Trappeto for Giuseppina and Cathy and brought them to San Francisco. His son Filippo was born the next year followed by Rosalia and finally Jacqueline. Jack and Giuseppina bought a wonderful family summer home at the Russian River, where they had a huge yard and garden. The family has wonderful memories of spending carefree time together, eating, playing, making wine, fishing and hunting.

Jack worked for Cervetto Maintenance for 20 years. In 1971, Jack established his restaurant, La Bussola. This is where Jack became a great chef. Giuseppina, Phil and son-in-law Matteo all worked with him. Jack sold La Bussola in 1983 and began a retirement filled with fun, travel and grandchildren. Jack loved fishing, hunting, and gardening. He and Giuseppina loved watching wrestling, old westerns and especially the Italian channel. As Giuseppina's health declined, Jack took loving care of her.

Jack is survived by his, four devoted children: Cathy (Matteo) Russo, Phil (Meg), Rosalie (David-deceased) Poggetti and Jackie (Robert) David, nine grandchildren: Salvatore (Amy), Jenny (Jared), Jack, Filippo, Daniel (Allison), Joseph, Matthew, Eric and Scott, and six great grandchildren: Matteo, Emma, Robert, Jack, Ella and Adelyn. He is also survived by his sister Rosa and many nieces and nephews.

Jack had a great 92 year run. He had his beloved family beside him as he died.
