Joan was a very close friend of mine. Though we shared a 40+ year age gap she was such an amazing soul to be around. Joan has always put everyone before herself, showed her sweet and compassionate side to all. She never spoke ill of others, she always had a smile on her face, and she always showed the brighter side of things even on the days she wasn’t feeling her best. She had amazing parents who worked so hard to support her and her brother. That carried on through Joan as she cared for her mother, father, and brother during their last years on earth. Her husband Paul, was her better half until his passing to cancer. Joan sat by Paul every day and cared for him, making him laugh even when it hurt. Joan and I always talked about her past, her career in banking, her marriage to Paul, her families struggled and her growing up here in San Francisco. Joan has been an SF local since the day she was born! She loved the city, the gays, the beach, the bustle of the city.  She brought the fun with her every time she stepped out of her house! I found that Joan was quite stubborn in taking help, but she was always there for other. She would pick up homeless people and help them drive to their next spot. She would buy them lunch, give them money, well aware of them abusing it elsewhere. She was a gentle and kind soul, and she loved to party! Joan would always meet me early at the restaurant, champagne in hand, ready to have a good night. She made a lasting impression that people would ask me why Joan wasn’t out with me on some nights. This woman was so amazing that we had to drive to every location she graced with her bubbly presence to state that an angel has left us. A true angel. Joan I love you so much, I will miss you every day, you were one of my best friends. I am so sorry we can’t share laughs and drinks, but I hope to see you there every now and then when I chuckle or order my dirty martinis. We love you Joanie!!! To infinity and back in my heart forever. ❤️
