I was very saddened to learn about Leon’s passing, during my military tour of duty in NYC, he was touched that someone would say hello and knew who he was at knicks and Yankees games, he got me Tony Kubeks book on the 61 Yankees signed by Tony Kubek when Tony was a MSG Network broadcaster on Yankees telecasts!  Leon was very good (understating) at his craft and a very good man!  We will miss you!!!

When I started my business, I didn't know many people in the broadcast world . . . I was nervous, concerned for my family's well-being, and hoping for a break. Leon gave me that break. He was kind, inspiring, and ended up hiring POC Media at several of the companies that he led. Leon was one of the truly nice guys in this industry and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to spend some time with him, to learn from him, and at a time when I needed encouragement, I'm grateful that he was generous with his time and wisdom. Keeping Leon's family in my prayers, praying that they feel God's healing love, and knowing that Leon is in Heaven smiling down upon them.

Leon was my boss at the Pac-12 Networks and along with Michael Harrabin hired me as their Studio Technical Director. He was the best boss I ever had. Everybody loved him. He was wonderful, generous, always full of fun and mischief and above all, trusted you and allowed you to develop in your job without micro management, just gentle encouragement and guidance. 

One particular hilarious memory I have of Leon is during an all staff meeting at the Pac-12 when Leon walked in after a visit to the BBC in London where I had worked before moving to the US. He said 'Neill! Guess who was asking after you at the BBC?' I responded inquisitively 'Who?' to which he responded 'Nobody!' 

I'm honored that we became great friends and I will miss him immensely. He was a brilliant, unique individual and there aren't many people like him left in the world.

To Lee's Family: Lee and I graduated in the same Class of 1970 from East Catholic High School. So many of our classmates have great memories of Lee. One fellow posted in our FB group: Memories of Lee: playing beside him in the hit band "The Yellow Jackets" with him on lead guitar, occasional basketball games, seemingly displaying a perpetual grin regardless of the situation. I'm sad to hear of his passing and wish his family and friends comfort during their time of grief. Rock on Lee.

Another recalls: Bob tells the story of how their recreation league basketball team "PFOT" came to be. Bob, Lee, and others on their team were hanging out together after a game, at Mt. Nebo, parked under a tree. A police officer driving by saw them and drove up to the group, asking why they were parked there. Lee calmly said, "Because we're friends of the tree." Thus their team name, "Players who are Friends of the Tree" was born. 

Ours is a close class and we have kept Lee in our hearts. We are terribly sad about your loss, and ours, as well. We have great memories of him and we feel this loss deeply. Our deepest sympathies to all of you, especially to Richard and Christina.

I first met Leon at the Richfield Coliseum when he was producing New York Knicks Basketball for MSG in the late 1980's.  He and Howie Singer were great to work with.  I was a technical director for one of Leon's shows and was switching on a "new" Grass Valley 300.  Howie directed me to "fly in the ESS" and then effect out to a camera with a lower-3rd Chyron.  I got tied-up on one of the M/E's and was stuck - Leon looked over, put his hands over his eyes and said to me calmly, "just get me back to the game camera, I don't care how."    He was very calm and patient with me.  After the game he was even supportive of the rest of my game!   Our paths crossed many times over the years as we changed jobs and locations.  When we spoke he always had time to reminisce.  I have always appreciated his patience and support.    He will be missed.
